Be Aware Of The Pitfalls Of Auto Insurance!
In order to operate a motor vehicle we are required to purchase auto insurance for the priveledge. In general we walk into an insurance agency with little to no knowledge about the process, willing to accept what’s handed to us with minimal information about what’s actually covered.
People generally think well about others. This is also true when a person buys something like an insurance policy. When a person buys a policy for his car he does not give much thought to the pitfalls of car insurance. He feels that with the various kinds of coverage he has he is not likely to face any problem or have any trouble.
Very often the first place people will look when seeking car insurance is the internet. With the vast amount of providers in one place offering comparisons and low rates, it may seem to be the best place! The drawback to this is we tend to skip over the details of the policy, taking what’s offered blindly for the lowest price.
It’s more important than you realize to look deeply into the policy you purchase! That low premium your offered may come at the cost of your sanity down the road when you realize your not getting anywhere near the amount you need back after your accident. To be properly cared for, you need all the coverage you can get for the smallest amount.
Many insurance companies offer special services such as road side assistance, and free car rentals. Many people have been at the scene of their accident, traumatized, possibly even injured only to hear when they think they have someone to take care of their car, an extra fee of some kind is involved. There may also be penalties to be paid for something as simple as changing your location to another state!
Similarly free rentals are provided for specific time period only and when buying the car insurance, people do not look into these details. Suppose the insurance company gives free rentals only for 10 days and a person does not get his car back from the repair shop till 20 days then he has to shell out the money for the next 10 days from his pocket.
Many times we store valuables in our car, secure with the idea that no one will touch them. How many times have you left your laptop, cell phone, or large amounts of cash in your car and walked away? Did you know that your car insurance only covers the actual car in the event of theft or damage? You could be stuck with the replacement cost of your valuables!
In short, always ask questions when looking for new insurance. Make sure you know exactly what’s covered under your policy and what benefits are available to you for how long. Read the fine print! It could make thousands of dollars in difference!
