Divorce Advice For Men - 9 Tips You Need to Know
Marriages are sassy, divorces are messy. They are best avoided, especially if you have kids. However, if there is absolutely no chance of saving your marriage and you have to go through with a divorce, then here are a few tips that can help you out:
1. Lawyers are in the game to make money, they’d like a divorce case to drag on to kingdom come, and if you hire such a lawyer then you’re in for a long haul. So choose your lawyer carefully ask your friends who have gone through a divorce for a recommendation. If you are unable to find a lawyer this way, then you have no other go but to interview a few lawyers and choose the one you consider the best.
2. Make sure you find a good location to store all your personal and financial records. You should be the only one with access. Get yourself a new post box where you can have private mail sent to.
3. Close down all joint bank accounts and cancel credit cards held in both names. Also consider changing your personal credit cards to new ones as your wife may have kept a record of the numbers.
4. Do not cut off all communication with your wife keep the lines open. You never know, one fine day she might just talk to you and settle the whole thing amicably, without any bad blood. Remember, if you stop communicating, things will go from worse to worst-ever.
5. If you have kids it’s important that you speak to them as often as possible. Reassure them that the divorce has nothing to do with them. Do everything to stop them feeling like they have been abandoned.
6. The easiest thing to do is to get angry and destroy correspondence from wife. STOP! This can be your greatest ally in a court of law. Keep all correspondence no matter how trivial it may seem.
7. Do not pass nasty comments about your wife either to your friends or on her face. Your friends might snitch on you, or the word will get around and then the differences will be more irreconcilable. Why create bad blood, when there isn’t need for any?
8. Chill! Don’t let your wife provoke you into being aggressive. If you’re seen to be aggressive you will lose your divorce. If your wife is aggressive towards you just stay calm.
9. Use friends and family for emotional support, you are not the first person to go through a divorce. This is when you find out who your real friends are.
Divorces are not nice and they can get very nasty. Your wife will unfortunately be in the driving seat when it comes to a settlement. But with the right help and advice you can get what you want from the divorce not what she wants you to have. There are several really good guides available on the internet that will help ensure that you gee the settlement you want. Hunt them down!
