What is the best, 2-way radio (walkie talkie type) name brands/miles?
I bought a Cobra brand, 17 mile range. But it only works under 2 miles? Maybe I’m not finding a good channel that goes far? I don’t know. I need an exellent, at least 8 mile, good brand or something, I will buy another set. Any good suggestions. Please help:(

that cobra is 1.7 mi not 17, only big radios reach that far, base stations with linear amplifiers. Get cell phones: cingular , verizon, nextel….. the performance depends on where you are,, My home won’t work on anything except satelite types, but most areas will have a greater concentration of certain brand of cell phone cells
Motorolla SRX700 - Range advertised 12 miles. Useable range 2-3 miles at best under optimal conditions. Then you also have others like Midland GTX-550VP4 Range advertised 14 miles, useable range again about 3 miles or so.
